‘Going to be night’ is the literal translation of the Nocturne – a form of music popular in the Baroque. The ‘21 Nocturnes’ of the romantic composer Frédéric Chopin has brought the nocturnal theme to perfection. His gracefully melancholic piano pieces instantly found an audience. For the monochrome black NOCTURNE, Chopin’s most popular night piece ‘Nocturne Opus 9’ was selected. In the Black Forest, the mechanical 18-note chime is inserted into blocks of solid oak wood, then turned and covered with open-pored silk matt lacquer. Inside the perfect sphere sounds Chopin’s masterpiece.
